As your business works to equip employees to work remotely and connect with your customers virtually, below is a brief set of guidelines to help you get up and running quickly with Microsoft Teams.
+# Get started with Teams
If you're just starting to change your business to work remotely, you've come to the right place. With Microsoft 365, you can manage a business virtually and stay in touch with your employees, partners, and customers through online meetings, [chats](https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-teams/instant-messaging?ocid=oo_support_mix_marvel_ups_support_smcteamsmb_inline), file sharing, and calls in Microsoft Teams.
-## Use Teams for your business (video)
- > [!VIDEO https://www.microsoft.com/videoplayer/embed/RE4ueMh?autoplay=false]
-For help with working remotely, we recommend starting with these three steps:
-
-## 1. Get ready
-
-Getting started is easy. If you already have a Microsoft 365 subscription, make sure that everyone has a license that includes Microsoft Teams. If your company does not have Microsoft Teams yet, you can [find the right Microsoft Teams for your business](https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-teams/teams-for-work) and sign up.
-
-### Get Microsoft Teams ready for your customers
-
-Guest access allows teams in your organization to collaborate with people outside your organization by granting them access to existing teams and channels in Microsoft Teams. Anyone with a business or consumer email account, such as Outlook, Gmail, or others, can participate as a guest in Microsoft Teams with full access to team chats, meetings, and files. As the Microsoft Teams admin, you control which features guests can (and can't) use in Microsoft Teams - check out [Manage guest access](https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/set-up-guests).
-
-## 2. Start using Microsoft
-
-Now it's time to start using Microsoft Teams. You can use it from the web, or [install](https://aka.ms/installteams) the app on your computer, laptop, or mobile device.
- ### Meet from anywhere With Microsoft Teams, people can use video conferencing to communicate securely with HD video while seeing and talking to other participants in real time. This adds a level of engagement and interaction to the conversation as body language and facial expressions promote higher collaboration and understanding.
-### Host online meetings for your business (video)
-
-> [!VIDEO https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/business-video/overview-online-meetings?view=o365-worldwide]
- ### Chat from anywhere Connect in real time on private 1:1 chats, group chats or in channel conversations that are visible to the entire team. Chat history is available at any time to recall past discussions and decisions. This adds a lot of value for new people coming into the team, or for current team members looking to re-visit a conversationΓÇÖs context.
-### Start and pin chats (video)
-

- ### Collaborate with customers and employees
-Microsoft Teams provides an excellent way to keep in touch with both your employees and customers.
- Help everyone in your organization install Microsoft Teams on their devices. For more information, see [download Microsoft Teams](https://aka.ms/downloadteams). With Microsoft Teams you can send instant messages, share files and hold meetings. You can [invite anyone to a meeting](schedule-guest-meeting.md), even if they don't have Microsoft Teams. For real-time collaboration with chat, document sharing, and calls, you can invite people outside your business to be a member of your team.
A team in Microsoft Teams is designed to bring together a group of people who wo
Channels are dedicated sections within a team to keep conversations organized by specific topics, projects or disciplines. Conversations, files, and notes for each channel are only visible to members of that group.

- ### Store and share files As your team works together remotely, you'll have files that you'll want to share and collaborate on, both inside and outside the company. Microsoft Teams makes it easy to share files and work on them together. If your documents are Word, Excel or PowerPoint files your colleagues and customers can even view, edit, and collaborate on them, right within Microsoft Teams. Make sure your company’s key documents are saved in the cloud and ready to be shared securely with clients, customers, partners, suppliers, and other people in your business. Keeping files in the cloud also means you get the benefits of backup and the ability to recover from hard drive failures, ransomware attacks, and other misfortunes. -- [Share your business files](overview-file-sharing.md)--- [Where to store files](store-files.md)-
-## 3. Get everyone ready
-
-To help your employees get the most out of Microsoft Teams, you can share with them the following links to end user training resources:
--- Watch a series of short [quick start videos](https://support.microsoft.com/office/microsoft-teams-video-training-4f108e54-240b-4351-8084-b1089f0d21d7) for a walkthrough of Microsoft Teams.--- Watch the [meetings videos](https://support.microsoft.com/office/b6caa0d4-eecb-4aa0-bc75-c05f4cd907b2) to learn how to use meetings.--- Create or promote your [org-wide team](org-wide-team.md) a place to learn and get things done.- ## Next steps For a deeper dive into the functionality of Microsoft Teams...

--- Macao, Russia and Venezuela: This offer is not available in these markets.-- China and Hong Kong: a one-year subscription is available in these markets. For China, visit [Microsoft 365 in China](https://www.microsoftstore.com.cn/home-use-program/invite). For Hong Kong, visit [Buy Microsoft 365 at a discounted price](https://www.microsoftestore.com.hk/partner/hup?locale=en_HK).-- Japan: Microsoft 365 Family is not available.-
-## How does an organization qualify for HUP discounts?
-
-For employees to take advantage of the Microsoft Home Use Program discount, they need a valid corporate email address and an active Microsoft Account, and your organization must meet one of the following criteria:
--- Customers who have active Software Assurance for qualifying Office applications-- Customers who have Microsoft 365/Microsoft 365 E3/E5 From Software Assurance-- Commercial and government customers who have purchased ≥ 2,000 licenses of one or a mix of Microsoft 365 E3/E5-- Education and non-profit customers-
-## Why do I have to create an Azure Active Directory (AAD) account to use the Home Use Program/ Microsoft Store for Business?
-
-To update and modernize the Home Use Program to a broader range of license and product benefits, we needed to change the way we fulfill HUP. Microsoft Store for Business is used for eligibility validation and to assign HUP benefits, and for that it relies on AAD to connect information from VSLC and to validate the email domains your organization's employees are on. For more information, see [To sign up for Azure AD accounts through Office 365 for Business](/microsoft-store/sign-up-microsoft-store-for-business#o365-welcome).
-
-## How do I become the assigned IT Admin of a managed tenant?
-
-You must create a special record in DNS to prove you own your company domain, ex:contoso.com.
-
-For a step-by-step process for becoming a managed tenant, see [Take over an unmanaged directory as administrator in Azure Active](/azure/active-directory/users-groups-roles/domains-admin-takeover).
-
-## What resources are available to help promote the Home Use Program benefit to employees?
-
-Use the resources located on the [Home Use Program](https://www.microsoft.com/home-use-program/resources) home page to help you promote the program to your employees. You'll find digital and printable flyers, verbiage for use in emails and newsletters, and guidance on how to best promote the Home Use Program.
-
-You can access onboarding materials in several languages at [HUP Material for Customers](https://microsofteur.sharepoint.com/teams/HUPMaterial). Select a language to begin downloading the files. The file contains assets that you can use to help educate your employees about the program and promote it internally in your company.
-
-## What are the steps for an eligible employee to make a Microsoft Home Use Program purchase?
-
-1. **Sign Up** Go to the [Microsoft Home Use Program page](https://www.microsoft.com/home-use-program), and select the Get Started button. Employees enter their corporate email address.
-2. **Confirm** An email is sent to their corporate email address inbox with a link that authenticates their eligibility for the program.
-3. **Sign In** After they have been authenticated, they begin the purchase process by providing the Microsoft account thatΓÇÖs associated with their personal email address, which allows them to view the discounts on products available to them based on the organizationΓÇÖs Home Use Program benefit. For more info, see [How to sign in to your Microsoft account](https://support.microsoft.com/help/4028195/microsoft-account-sign-in).
-4. **Shop** The purchase is processed and completed in the Microsoft Store.
-
-## If an employee subscribes to Microsoft 365 through the Microsoft Home Use Program, how does this impact our organizationΓÇÖs Microsoft 365 business subscription and device limit?
-
-Installs through the Home Use Program have no impact on your organizationΓÇÖs Microsoft 365 business subscription. When employees activate Microsoft 365 on their personal devices, they use their personal Microsoft account, not their work account. Your organizationΓÇÖs IT administrators donΓÇÖt manage or support any purchases made through the Home Use Program.
-
-## IΓÇÖm having trouble managing my organizationΓÇÖs Microsoft Home Use Program benefit. Where can I get support?
-
-For support for issues migrating from the Volume Licensing Service Center or to access Microsoft Store for Business, see [VLSC Support](https://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/servicecenter/default.aspx?wa=wsignin1.0).
-
-For issues viewing the benefit after you have already accessed Microsoft Store for Business, see [Store for Business Admin support](/microsoft-store/)
-
-## Why am I not seeing an option to purchase Visio Professional 2019 and/or Project Professional 2019?
-
-If one of your employees took advantage of the previous program and is looking for discounts on Visio Professional 2019 and/or Project Professional 2019, please go through the eligibility validation process and, once signed in with your personal Microsoft account, go to **Other Office products** to purchase these products. If you don't see expected discounts applied, contact your employerΓÇÖs Home Use Program administrator to ask about these additional benefits.
-
-## What if my employees have questions about this program or need support with purchasing and installation?
-
-If employees have questions, refer them to the following resources:
--- [Post purchase and installation FAQ](https://products.office.com/microsoft-office-for-home-and-school-faq)--- [Home Use Program Employee FAQ](https://www.microsoft.com/home-use-program/frequently-asked-questions)-
- For help with technical issues, see [Microsoft Support](https://support.microsoft.com/). You'll find help for:
--- Order status-- Billing-- Installing Office-- Signing in to Office-

-# Self-service purchase FAQ
-
-Self-service purchase gives users a chance to try out new technologies and develop solutions that ultimately benefit their larger organizations. Central procurement and IT teams have visibility to all users who buy and deploy self-service purchase solutions through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Admins can turn off self-service purchasing on a per product basis via PowerShell. To learn more, see [Use AllowSelfServicePurchase for the MSCommerce PowerShell module](allowselfservicepurchase-powershell.md).
-
-Self-service purchase is available for Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate), Project, and Visio.
-
-> [!NOTE]
-> Self-service purchase isnΓÇÖt available in India or for government or education customers. Project and Visio are not available for self-service purchase in Brazil and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
-
-## Making a self-service purchase
-
-### How does a customer make a self-service purchase?
-
-Customers can make a self-service purchase online from the product websites or from in-app purchase prompts. Customers are first asked to enter an email address to ensure that they're a user in an existing Azure Active Directory (AD) tenant. Next, they're directed to sign in by using their Azure AD credentials. After signing in, the customer is asked to select how many subscriptions they want to buy, and to provide credit card payment. When the purchase is complete, they can start using their subscription. The purchaser has access to a limited view of the Microsoft 365 admin center where they can assign licenses to the product to other people in their organization.
-
-### What are the payment options for self-service purchases?
-
-Currently, credit card is the only available payment method. Payment through invoicing isn't supported.
-
-### Who can buy through self-service purchase?
-
-Any user with a non-guest user account in a managed Azure AD tenant can make a self-service purchase. Self-service purchasing isnΓÇÖt available to tenants that are government or education organizations. If this applies to your organization, then no additional action is required to control self-service purchase.
-
-Users in organizations or markets who arenΓÇÖt eligible for self-service purchase see a message asking them to contact their IT admin.
-
-### Can guest users buy through self-service purchase?
-
-No, guest users canΓÇÖt complete a self-service purchase in a tenant in which they're a guest.
-
-### Can users synced from an on-premises Active Directory buy through self-service purchase?
-
-If a user has an active user account in an eligible Azure AD tenant, they can complete a self-service purchase.
-
-### Who can self-service purchasers assign licenses to?
-
-Self-service purchasers can only assign licenses to users in the same Azure AD tenant. The purchaser has access to a limited view of the Microsoft 365 admin center to assign licenses. Purchasers can assign licenses to those products that they've bought through self-service purchase, and can only assign those licenses to users in the same Azure AD tenant.
-
-### Where does the self-service purchaser see and manage their purchases?
-
-Self-service purchasers can manage their purchases in the limited view of the Microsoft 365 admin center. Purchasers can always get to the admin center from the **Admin** tile in the app launcher built into all Microsoft 365 and Dynamics online apps. Purchasers can view the purchases they've made, buy additional subscriptions to the same service, and assign licenses for those subscriptions to other users in their organization. Additionally, purchasers can view and pay their bill, update their payment method, and cancel their subscription.
-
-## Pricing
-
-### What is the pricing for self-service purchases?
-
-Pricing for each of the products for self-service purchase is available on the Microsoft website. Prices are also displayed as part of the checkout experience when users make a self-service purchase. These prices may differ from the prices an organization pays when making central purchases or prices offered through a partner.
-
-### Who is responsible for payment?
-
-The person who buys the subscription through self-service purchase is the person who is billed and who is responsible for payment based on the terms and pricing of the purchase.
-
-## Admin capabilities
-
-### What capabilities does an admin have for self-service purchases?
-
-Admins can view all self-service purchases made in their organization in the Microsoft 365 admin center. They can see the product, purchaser name, subscriptions purchased, expiry date, order history, purchase price, and assigned users for each self-service purchase. In the Power Platform Admin Center, admins can also view self-service purchases capacity. If required for their organization, admins can turn off self-service purchasing on a per product basis via PowerShell. Admins have the same data management and access policies over products bought through self-service purchase or centrally.
-
-Admins can also control whether users in their organization can make self-service purchases. For more information, see [Use AllowSelfServicePurchase for the MSCommerce PowerShell module](allowselfservicepurchase-powershell.md).
-
-### How is Microsoft respecting data governance and compliance by enabling self-service purchase?
-
-Admins maintain control over what services and products are available within their tenant based on their data governance and compliance requirements. All data management and access policies that your organization turned on apply to available self-service purchased services.
-
-### Who owns the product data created from self-service purchases?
-
-Data created from products bought through self-service purchase is owned and controlled by the organization.
-
-### How do I centralize the purchases made through self-service purchase?
-
-Admins can assign existing licenses or buy additional subscriptions of self-service purchase products through existing agreements and pricing for users assigned to self-service purchases. After assigning these centrally purchased licenses, admins can then request that the purchasers cancel their existing subscriptions.
-
-### Where does the admin see self-service purchases?
-
-Global and billing admins can see subscriptions bought through self-service purchase in **Billing** > **Your products** in the Microsoft 365 admin center. They can filter the products list to only show the subscriptions purchased through central procurement, or to include subscriptions bought through self-service purchase.
-
-Admins can see the product, purchaser name, subscription purchased, expiry date, order history, the purchase price, and assigned users.
-
-## Support and training
-
-### Are customers' IT departments or partners expected to support products bought through self-service purchase?
-
-IT departments and partners aren't expected to provide support for products bought through self-service purchase. Microsoft provides standard support for self-service purchasers.
-
-### If a self-service purchaser calls support, does that use the customer's Premier Support incidents?
-
-Self-service purchasers won't use a customer's Premier Support incidents for receiving support for their self-service purchases.
-
-### How are users expected to receive training on the products they buy through self-service purchase?
-
-Extensive training for users is provided on the product websites. The products have guided learning, documentation, samples, and strong communities to get answers and tips directly from other users.
-
-### What happens to a self-service purchase if a user leaves the organization?
-
-If the person who originally bought the self-service purchase product leaves the organization, valid users continue to have full use of the product for the duration of the subscription. The subscription remains active until the purchaser directly cancels it or an admin requests cancellation of the subscription through customer support. Admins may also choose to assign a centrally purchased license to users of the canceled subscription.
-
-## Partners
-
-### What's the role of Microsoft's partners in self-service purchases?
-
-Partners who have delegated administration privileges can see self-service purchases in the Microsoft 365 admin center, just like an admin. Partners can help support an organization that wants to centralize products bought through self-service purchases. Additionally, partners may offer solutions to extend the capabilities of a self-service purchase.

-- **Higher bandwidth to the Office 365 Management Activity API**. Advanced Audit provides organizations with more bandwidth to access auditing logs through the Office 365 Management Activity API. Although all organizations (that have Basic auditing or Advanced Audit) are initially allocated a baseline of 2,000 requests per minute, this limit will dynamically increase depending on an organization's seat count and their licensing subscription. This results in organizations with Advanced Audit getting about twice the bandwidth as organizations with Basic auditing.

+
+Basic Audit in Microsoft 365 lets you search for audit records for activities performed in the different Microsoft 365 services by users and admins. Because Basic Audit is enabled by default for most Microsoft 365 and Office 365 organizations, there's only a few things you need to do before you and others in your organization can search the audit log.
+
+This article discusses the following steps necessary to set up Basic Audit.

+These steps include ensuring the proper organizational subscriptions and user licensing required to generate and preserve audit records and assigning permissions to team members of your security operations, IT, compliance, and legal teams so that can search the audit log.
+
+For more information, see [Basic Audit in Microsoft 365](auditing-solutions-overview.md#basic-audit).
+
+## Step 1: Verify organization subscription and user licensing
+
+Licensing for Basic Audit requires the appropriate organization subscription that provides access to audit log search tool and per-user licensing that's required to log and retain audit records.
+
+When an audited activity is performed by a user or admin, an audit record is generated and stored in the audit log for your organization. In Basic Audit, audit records are retained and searchable in the audit log for 90 days.
+
+For a list of subscription and licensing requirements for Basic Audit, see [Auditing solutions in Microsoft 365](auditing-solutions-overview.md#licensing-requirements).
+
+## Step 2: Assign permissions to search the audit log
+
+Admins and members of investigation teams must be assigned the View-Only Audit Logs or Audit Logs role in Exchange Online to search the audit log. By default, these roles are assigned to the Compliance Management and Organization Management role groups on the **Permissions** page in the Exchange admin center. Global administrators in Office 365 and Microsoft 365 are automatically added as members of the Organization Management role group in Exchange Online. To give a user the ability to search the audit log with the minimum level of privileges, you can create a custom role group in Exchange Online, add the View-Only Audit Logs or Audit Logs role, and then add the user as a member of the new role group. For more information, see [Manage role groups in Exchange Online](/Exchange/permissions-exo/role-groups).
+
+The following screenshot shows the two audit-related roles assigned to the Organization Management role group in the Exchange admin center.
+
+![Audit roles assigned to role group in Exchange Online](../media/EACAuditRoles.png)
+
+## Step 3: Search the audit log
+
+Now you're ready to search the audit log in the Microsoft 365 compliance center.
+
+1. Go to <https://compliance.microsoft.com> and sign in using an account that has been assigned the appropriate audit permissions.
+
+2. In the left navigation pane of the Microsoft 365 compliance center, click **Show all** and then click **Audit**.
+
+3. On the **Audit** page, configure the search using the following conditions on the **Search** tab.
+
+ ![Configuration settings for audit log search](../media/AuditLogSearchToolMCCCallouts.png)
+
+ 1. **Date and time range**. Select a date and time range to display the events that occurred within that period. The date and time are presented in local time. The last seven days are selected by default.
+
+ 2. **Activities**. Select the activities to search for. Use the search box to search for activities to add to the list. For a partial list of audited activities, see [Audited activities](search-the-audit-log-in-security-and-compliance.md#audited-activities). Leave this box blank to return entries for all audited activities.
+
+ 3. **Users**. Click in this box and start typing the name of users to display search results for. The audit log entries for the selected activities performed by the users you select in this box are displayed in the list of results. Leave this box blank to return entries for all users (and service accounts) in your organization.
+
+ 4. **File, folder, or site**. Type some or all of a file or folder name to search for activity related to the file of folder that contains the specified keyword. You can also specify a URL of a file or folder. If you use a URL of a file or folder, be sure the type the full URL path or if you type a portion of the URL, don't include any special characters or spaces. Leave this box blank to return entries for all files and folders in your organization.
+
+4. Click **Search** to run the search.
+
+A new page is display that shows the audit log search is running. When the search is completed, audit records are displayed on the page. Click a record to display a flyout page with detailed properties.
+
+For more detailed instructions, see [Search the audit log in the compliance center](search-the-audit-log-in-security-and-compliance.md).

## Enable Microsoft Defender Antivirus and confirm it's in passive mode
-On certain versions of Windows, such as Windows Server, Microsoft Defender Antivirus might have been uninstalled or disabled when your McAfee solution was installed. When you get ready to onboard your endpoints to Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Defender Antivirus does not enter passive or disabled mode automatically. In addition, on Windows Server, you cannot have Microsoft Defender Antivirus in active mode alongside a non-Microsoft antivirus/antimalware solution, such as McAfee, Symantec, or others. To learn more about what happens with Defender for Endpoint and antivirus solutions, see [Microsoft Defender Antivirus compatibility](/windows/security/threat-protection/microsoft-defender-antivirus/microsoft-defender-antivirus-compatibility).
